A lot of people ask me about how much it costs to use oil paint as thick as I do and I’m here to tell you it’s actually quite cheap if you know what you’re doing. My name is Aaron Parks and I’ve spent the past 10-15 years stirring a melting pot of theories/techniques/mediums together, all in the name of freeing myself to paint. While the main quest of the day will be to familiarize ourselves with impasto painting strategies by leaning into the unique characteristics of the medium, what we really are doing is developing a process that frees our most expressive and confident selves.
This class will assume you have a basic understanding of oil painting. We have plenty of classes and workshops available at the studio. Also the internet, while a bit of a gamble, should be able to catch you up on the basics. Finally: when in doubt, look up James Gurney.
