If you struggle to bring color into to your oil paintings, or if you’re interested in bringing some stronger colors and vibrancy to your work, this is the workshop for you! In this color forward approach to oils, we’ll talk about color theory, and spend the day experimenting with what happens when we let ourselves go loose, starting with color straight out of the paint tube.
This one-day workshop is designed for people with some familiarity with oils, and looking for a way to enliven your work. There will be a special emphasis on bringing color into portraits, but other references are also welcome. Working from your chosen reference photo, and using a clear, step-by-step approach, we will cover laying out expressive color, capturing the reference, and using the medium to further shape, refine, and adjust your paintings to more lifelike finished products, all the while maintaining color. Demonstrations and individualized feedback guide students through the process from start to finish.
